Project Overview

Progressive Office supplied and installed the commercial office furniture and workstation
solutions for Novartis at Police Road, Mulgrave, supporting a two-level corporate
workplace designed to accommodate approximately 110 employees.
The furniture package formed part of a substantial new workplace created for the
international pharmaceutical company and incorporated open-plan workstation areas, private
offices, meeting and conference facilities, reception, storage and supporting staff areas.
Progressive Office coordinated the workplace furniture requirements with the planned office
layout, ensuring workstations, seating, storage and supporting furniture were appropriate for
the different working environments throughout the facility.

Workstation Solutions:

A major component of the project was the provision of commercial workstation systems for
the open-plan workplace areas.
Workstation layouts were planned around the requirements of individual departments and
coordinated with the location of power, data and communications infrastructure.
The workstation package incorporated workstation screens, mobile storage and ergonomic
task seating to provide employees with practical, organised and comfortable individual
working environments.
The surviving project documentation identifies dedicated workstation configurations for areas
including Finance, IT, Technical Services and Product Supply, demonstrating the different
furniture requirements incorporated within the workplace.

Office & Meeting Furniture:

In addition to the open-plan workstation areas, Progressive Office provided furniture
solutions for private offices and meeting spaces throughout the two-level workplace.
The project incorporated office desks and seating together with meeting and conference
tables and associated furniture.
This combination allowed the furniture package to support individual work, team
collaboration, formal meetings and the day-to-day operational requirements of the Novartis
workplace.

Ergonomic Seating & Storage:

Ergonomic task seating formed an important part of the workplace furniture package and was
coordinated with the workstation systems throughout the office.
Mobile and fixed storage solutions were incorporated into the workplace to support
individual employees and departmental requirements while maintaining an organised office
environment.

Custom Furniture & Joinery

The Novartis project also incorporated custom workplace furniture and joinery.

These elements included reception and utility requirements together with staff kitchen
facilities and other furniture designed to suit specific areas of the workplace.

Integrating standard commercial furniture with purpose-designed elements allowed the
different workplace environments to maintain a consistent overall design.

Furniture Planning & Installation

Progressive Office coordinated furniture planning, specification, delivery and installation
across the two-level Novartis workplace.

Particular attention was given to the relationship between workstation layouts and the
workplace’s electrical, data and communications infrastructure so that furniture could be
installed as part of a coordinated operational environment.

The completed furniture package provided Novartis with workstations, ergonomic seating,
meeting and office furniture, storage and custom solutions suitable for a substantial corporate
workplace accommodating approximately 110 employees.
