Progressive Office Furniture was contracted by Hunter Mason to design and manufacture a range of specialised commercial locker and storage systems for the Australian Government Department of Finance in Canberra.

Project Overview

The Department of Finance required several different locker configurations to accommodate the secure storage of personal belongings, mobile phones, laptops and bags within its Canberra workplace.

With standard locker products unable to meet all of the project requirements, Progressive Office Furniture developed a series of purpose-built storage solutions, manufactured specifically for the different applications throughout the facility.

The completed project included digitally keyed bag lockers, combination phone, laptop and bag lockers, together with a substantial custom built-in locker installation incorporating clear Perspex doors.

Custom Locker Solutions

Each locker configuration was designed around its intended use.

The digitally keyed lockers provide staff with secure personal storage, while the combination units incorporate different compartment sizes to accommodate smaller items such as mobile phones through to laptops, bags and larger personal belongings.

One of the most specialised elements was the built-in Perspex-door locker system. The clear doors allow users to immediately see whether individual compartments contain items without having to open them, while the surrounding joinery creates an integrated architectural finish.

Manufactured in Victoria

The locker systems were manufactured in Victoria specifically for the Department of Finance project.

Custom manufacturing allowed Progressive Office Furniture to control dimensions, compartment configurations, materials, locking systems and detailing rather than adapting the project requirements around a standard imported locker.

Following manufacture, the completed locker systems were transported from Victoria to Canberra, with Progressive managing delivery and on-site installation
